This is home. We believe Blacksburg, VA is one of the best college towns to live in and regardless of how long you are here we want this to feel like your community. The three most important factors for this are: where you live; how you live; and becoming part of Blacksburg.


Where You Live

Every students wants something different in their off-campus housing experience. And, many times that's based on their year in college and how they want to socialize with others. Whether it's an apartment or home there are many options around town and our off-campus housing network is the perfect place to start. Check this site for tips and tools for finding a place live, selecting roommates, and working with your leasing office.

How You Live

Our school consistently ranks as having the best town-gown relationships in the country - it's one of the things that makes Blacksburg a great place to live. Being a good neighbor covers everything from knowing when the trash gets picked up to understanding ordinances for noise. When conflicts do arise, the Dean of Students Office will be there to assist and mediate. Here are some tips to follow: meet your neighbors and offer your cell phone number; respect differences in lifestyles; be helpful when neighbors have a need; know town ordinances related to parking, noise, and yard maintenance; and be responsible for your guests.

Get Involved

As a Blacksburg resident you get full access to what happens on and off campus. There are many ways to be part of community events and programs that will help you neighbor and enjoy your new home off campus.

Whether it is an annual event, community recreation, or learning about historic Blacksburg - all of these opportunities will help you feel more connected to one of the best college towns in the nation.
