Hokies First

Peer Mentoring Program

First-Generation Student Support is launching a FREE peer mentoring program for first-generation freshmen and sophomore students at Virginia Tech.

Peer mentors are crucial to the academic, cultural, and social integration of first-generation students throughout their first and second years. Mentors are student leaders who serve as a valuable resource to our students. The Hokies First Peer Mentoring Program will help you:

  • Gain practical advice, encouragement and support
  • Connect you to on-campus and off-campus resources
  • Learn from the experience of your peer mentors
  • Build relationships with students, faculty and staff that will help you become more empowered in making decisions
  • Increase your social and academic confidence
  • Adjust in your transition to Virginia Tech
